Our Story

How and When was Guard Dawg Created?

In March 2023, our founder, Austin Rago, officially created Guard Dawg. With his love for cooking, Austin wanted to test his creative skills by crafting new BBQ spice blends far more unique than what you typically see in your local supermarket.

Guard Dawg was sparked by a simple conversation that has been ongoing ever since. Austin was sitting at a diner in New Jersey with his cousin Julia, having breakfast on a Saturday morning. At this point in his life, he was starting his construction career with big dreams of accomplishing more. Julia and Austin tossed around many ideas, but the one that stuck that day was creating a craft seasoning food business. Guard Dawg has continued to this day, one spice at a time!

What Inspired the Name “Guard Dawg”?

The essence of Guard Dawg embraces the bond between man and his best friend. Through our recipes and spice blends, we can emulate that bond among our friends, family, and loved ones. We believe nothing creates more memories than sharing a delicious meal!

Other than Creating Spice Rubs, What Do You Do?

Besides developing delicious BBQ seasonings, we have operated small and large events. During our first year of operation in 2023, we had a successful grand opening pop-up shop event. We participated in the Oktoberfest located in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. As Guard Dawg grows, we plan to have many more events soon.
