Sweet & Smoky Butterflied Chicken Drumsticks

  • Preheat the oven to 375 Degrees Fahrenheit. 

  • Under cold water, clean the chicken drumsticks with salt and pat dry. 

  • To butterfly the chicken drumsticks, cut from the top of leg to the base of the bone, splitting in half. 

  • Once all drumsticks are butterflied, season with garlic powder, onion powder, Guard Dawg’s Chile Pepper and Ancho Chile-Mango Spice rubs, and canola oil. Mix well, and place the chicken skin side down in a decent sized baking dish (big enough to hold all of the chicken with room). 

  • Place the chicken in the oven and bake for approximately 1 hour. 

  • Remove the chicken from the oven, and flip the chicken over to have the skin side up. 

  • Top with brown sugar, and place back in the oven for another hour or until the chicken has reached 165 degrees Fahrenheit internal. 

  • Remove from the oven and drizzle with the hot honey for an added kick and sweetness. 

  • Serve when cooled, and enjoy!
